Overview
The striking SKYTHIA is a 78.3’ (23.86m) replica schooner built in 2005 by Nautica, in one of the oldest shipbuilding regions on the Baltic shores of Bulgaria. She is a replica of the AMERICA, arguably the most famous racing yacht ever, and the vessel behind the naming of the America’s Cup.
A steel-hulled, gaff-rigged schooner, her classic exterior has been meticulously maintained. An enormous bowsprit comprising almost one-third of her length provides tack points for two furling headsails. Beautifully varnished cap-rails and skirting boards frame her solid teak decks, and two varnished coach roofs are crowned with brightly shining brass-framed hatches. SKYTHIA’s recently painted black hull is trimmed with intricate gold-colored bow carvings.
With some enviable results on the classic racing circuit, SKYTHIA is also a successful charter yacht, performing superbly for corporate, team building as well as for private cruising. She can accommodate six to eight guests across three well-appointed cabins, with room for four crew members. Her full-beam master cabin is midships ahead of the saloon, equipped with two large beds outboard to port and starboard, and has a separate en-suite and shower forward. Her guest cabins have a private entrance from the deck midships. Bunk beds to port and starboard also have their own en-suite and a large shower cubicle.
SKYTHIA’s main salon is comfortable and homely, with richly oiled teak sole boards creating a classic, clean feel. A dining table for six to port is the perfect spot out of the elements, and with a lounge area to starboard with sofas and a coffee table, it’s the perfect area to socialize. Her navigation and communication area is located in the salon, aft starboard. The well-equipped galley to starboard, with all the modern amenities one would expect plus a wine fridge. Another dining area is located in the aft cockpit, well-protected and seating eight around a beautifully varnished cockpit table with curved teak benches.
Having undergone a major refit in 2020-2021, SKYTHIA’s 370HP Yanmar engine was fully serviced at 1,400 hours (summer 2022). She enjoys a new Fischer Panda Generator (4,000s Neo), a new Quick hot water boiler and new service batteries with Mastervolt chargers. Her engine room was replumbed, rewired, repainted and reinsulated. She was also outfitted with a new Raymarine instrument package. She was fully repainted and varnished.
In near-perfect condition, SKYTHIA is ready to go. With an incredible legacy behind her, and a proven race pedigree, she is the perfect yacht for those interested in the upcoming America’s Cup in Barcelona, whether for a charter business or a head-turning spectators’ platform. In between charters and classic regattas, SKYTHIA makes for a very comfortable cruising yacht.
