Overview
The striking 203’ (62m) Ares superyacht SIMENA is a brand-new build expected to set sail in March 2025. She represents the pinnacle of modern yacht design, blended with traditional sailing elements, and is poised to redefine luxury sailing for years to come.
With close attention to detail and a commitment to excellence, Ares Shipyard has created a vessel that not only surpasses industry standards but sets a new benchmark for performance, comfort and style. From her sleek lines to her state-of-the-art systems, every aspect of SIMENA has been crafted for a discerning owner.
At the heart of SIMENA’s design is a focus on performance luxury cruising. As a ketch, she combines the elegance of traditional sailing with the latest in cutting-edge technology to deliver a sailing experience like no other. With a cruising speed of 11 knots and a top speed of 14.5 knots, SIMENA offers transatlantic range even without utilizing her sails, making her the perfect vessel for exploring the world’s most remote destinations in comfort and style.
Designed by the renowned naval architect Tanju Kalaycıoğlu of Taka Yacht Design, SIMENA’s exterior is sophisticated with clean lines and a striking profile that commands attention wherever she goes. “The inspiration behind the exterior lines was the clipper ships – especially the bow with fully rigged bowsprit and trail board,” explains Osman Tanju Kalaycioglu, naval architect and owner of Taka Yacht Design. Her composite (carbon and GRP) superstructure, believed to be the largest ever built for a yacht of her type, ensures both strength and agility, while her sleek hull glides effortlessly through the water, providing a smooth and stable ride in all conditions.
Step inside, and you’ll discover an interior that pays homage to the classic inspiration seen on her exterior. SIMENA’s interior, designed by the award-winning studio Design Unlimited, is a masterpiece of craftsmanship. Every detail has been carefully considered to create a calming, neutral palette including the use of tactile woven metals, leathers, stones and soft furnishings. Mark Tucker, creative director of Design Unlimited, paid careful attention to the soft, rounded edges of her furniture, generous handrails and clean, relaxed geometry of her staterooms and en-suite bathrooms. There are touches of modern such as TV lifts in the salon and master suite, allowing guests to enjoy contemporary living while still feeling like they are in the “golden era” of yachting. Walnut shines as the basis for the interior and is complemented by unique elements like antiqued brass and textured leather. The double U-shaped galley is clean, contemporary and fitted out with the best of Miele appliances. The design has also allowed for substantial extra freezer space forward.
Accommodations aboard SIMENA are nothing short of spectacular, with room for up to 12 guests and up to 9 crew members. The grand owner’s suite, located forward on the main deck, is a sanctuary of luxury, with a separate bathroom, dressing room, and lounge area providing the perfect retreat after a day of sailing. Additional guest cabins, three lavish double guest cabins and two twin cabins offer luxurious accommodations for family and friends. Crew accommodations are thoughtfully designed with the captain’s cabin and three twin crew bunk cabins located aft, complete with private bathrooms and separate showers. A fully equipped galley, crew mess, dry storage, and engine room cater to operational efficiency. There is a laundry area is strategically positioned, featuring additional freezers for added storage capacity. As an optional extension, two additional twin crew bunk cabins can be located at the forward section, sharing a dedicated bathroom for enhanced crew comfort and privacy.
It’s not just the interior spaces that make SIMENA stand out. Her exterior decks are equally impressive, with ample space for sunbathing, dining, and entertaining. The aft deck features a Jacuzzi surrounded by plush seating, while the flybridge can be accessed via an automatic sliding glass companionway. It is functional, with twin helm stations port and starboard, panoramic visibility combined with a sliding sunroof to provide visibility to the rig and sails. A comfortable lounging sofa and coffee table are complemented by another huge sunpad aft. With a dedicated side-opening swimming platform and a crane for launching custom tenders and water toys, SIMENA offers seamless access to the water, ensuring that guests can make the most of their time on board.
With a parallel hybrid propulsion system, SIMENA is as environmentally friendly as she is luxurious, offering six options for running, including the ability to regenerate electricity using the propeller while sailing. SIMENA comes equipped with a custom-designed Limousine tender, a crew tender/rescue tender and optional Jet Skis.
